S'Kids Announces Its Ever-Popular Fall Festival (Nov 12) and Cooking Class (Nov 11) to Western Wake Families

What's more fun than making pumpkin pancakes? Apple Bobbing.

Holly Springs, NC, November 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- S’Kids Drop-In Childcare Center, a resource for local parents seeking reliable and affordable childcare by the hour, is proud to announce two special events this month.

Friday, November 11 (Teacher Work-Day and Veterans Day) at 11 a.m.:

S’Kids has been hosting cooking classes on Teacher Work-Days to give moms and dads a little break during the day. The recipe for this session will be Pumpkin Pancakes. The last two sessions covered Fruit Salad/Parfait and Pizza.

The Pizza the Kids Made to Look Like Mummies in the Spirit of Halloween (Before and After Baking).

Preparing fruit Salad offered a teachable moment according to Ms. Maria, one of the caregivers at S’Kids. “Kids hear adults talk about healthy food choices but they never actually prepare the food themselves,” explained Ms. Maria. She added, “When they are given the opportunity to make something simple like fruit salad from start to finish, the whole cooking and eating experience comes alive for them. Another side benefit,” she said with a smile, “is they appreciate the work their parents do in the kitchen cooking meals for them!”

Saturday, November 12, 2011 between 4-7 p.m.:
S’Kids is also hosting a Carnival-Insipred Indoor Fall Festival with treats and prizes for all participants. Activities will include:

• Cake Walk
• Face painting (two S’Kids caregivers are expert face painters)
• Bobbing for Apples
• Fishing Game
• Corn Hole
• Sack Races

“We are stronger as a community when we celebrate together. While bobbing for apples may not sound like a serious ritual, it’s something kids in America have done for years around Fall. And so the tradition continues,” said S’Kids owner, Debra Bapat, with a twinkle in her eye. “S’Kids wants to be one of the hubs that brings kids in the community together and this Fall Festival is one of our efforts to do just that. Parents can run errands or have some time to themselves while their kids have fun here at S’Kids.”

If you are a member of S’kids, regular rates apply for both the events. The event will take place indoors so the weather is not an issue. For non-members, there is one-time $8 registration fee when you join (used to keep member data secure).

S’Kids is a drop-in childcare center at the intersection of Sunset Lake Road and Holly Springs Road (near the BP gas station). Visit the website at http://skidsrus.com for more information or call 919-362-5422. RSVP appreciated for both events but not required.
