Lyon Communities Kicks off Annual Food Drive

Donate Canned Goods, Get Application Fee Waived, Residents Earn Rent Credit for Donation of Canned Goods

Irvine, CA, November 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Lyon Communities, recognized as one of the largest and most respected privately held multi-family real estate companies in Southern California, has kicked off its annual “Holiday Food Drive” benefiting The Salvation Army in Long Beach.

Lyon Communities is hosting this year’s drive to help The Salvation Army reach its goal of raising funds and collecting pounds of nutritious food for families and individuals in need in Southern California.

“Hunger is a very serious, ever-growing problem – even in Southern California,” said Suzanne Maddalon, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Lyon Communities. “Our goal is to help The Salvation Army feed those that for a variety of reasons are struggling to provide enough food for themselves or their families.”

“During the holidays food banks experience an increase in need, yet also see a sharp reduction in supply,” added Maddalon. “In addition to raising awareness for The Salvation Army’s needs, our food and fund drive will help bridge that gap. We hope that this will make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

The Salvation Army was established in London in 1865 and has been supporting those in need for more than 130 years in the United States. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. 82 cents of every dollar The Salvation Army spends is used to support those services in 5,000 communities nationwide. Additional information is available at www.salvationarmyusa.org.

All of Lyon Communities in California are participating in the annual food and fund drive, which began on November 4. Each community is providing potential residents with an incentive to participate; for example, if someone donates five canned goods, Lyon Communities will waive their application fee.

Food collection barrels have arrived and residents can fill them until they are picked up on Sunday, December 4. For more information, residents should visit 1900 Ocean, The Lofts at Promenade or the gallery421 leasing center, or visit us online at www.lyoncommunities.com.
