Seller of Real Estate Advocate Named President of RE/MAX Short Sale Division

St. Davids, PA, November 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- If you’re one of the thousands of homeowners struggling with their mortgage and can no longer afford your payments, help is on the way, now that RE/MAX Classic has added a Distressed Real Estate Division to be headed by successful local realtor Brett Furman.

The division was created to help those homeowners that are struggling on their mortgage and can no longer afford the payments when the home is worth less than what is owed to the lender.

“The goal is to provide the correct advice on the various options available to a short seller, protect the credit of our seller clients, and eliminate all the hassles and stress with the process," said Furman, a realtor and creator of The Furman Home Selling Service. Clients benefit from the use of his complimentary concierge system, which provides homeowners with access to over 1,000 vendors including electricians, painters, handymen and movers.

Furman explained that although the majority of his business is the representation of sellers of real estate that are not behind on their mortgage, the short sales division, which is about 5 percent of his total business, is focused on getting the lender to reduce the amount of the mortgage owed.

“The firm has already handled dozens of short sales and is confident that this business is going to increase substantially,” Furman stressed. “Right now there are 374 homes for sale in Montgomery County that are short sales, 226 in Chester County and 345 in Delaware County.” The new division, Furman said, will maintain statistics on the local short sale marketplace. “Currently it would take 1.15 years to sell all the short sale homes in Chester County, 1.29 years in Montgomery County and over 2.59 years in Delaware County,” Furman noted.

Shane Thompson, 39, of Media, PA., said he’s excited about the new division. “I have several relatives who need help, but haven’t been able to get help, so this is encouraging news, not only for those I know who need help, but also myself,” said Thompson. “Times are hard for everyone, so anything helps.”

Furman said RE/MAX Classic launched its distressed real estate division after watching the short sale inventory swelling in the marketplace and some clients having difficulty with meeting their mortgage payments.

“RE/MAX Classic short sale division added major value for their clients by aligning with a regional law firm that will represent our seller clients in the process,” said Furman. “Depending on the situation of the seller, we may be able to make the cost of the legal representation no cost for the seller for a standard short sale.”
