Rev Carl Keyes AID for America Opens a New Community for Widows

New York, NY, November 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- AID for America, a division of Aid for the World, is pleased to announce that it is collaborating with a group in West Virginia to build a new community for widows, furthering its commitment to helping those in need. The homes demonstrate solutions using innovative designs combined with the latest medical device technology. This allows those facing a chronic illness or disability to remain independent.

“AID is always looking for simple solutions to global problems,” says Rev. Carl Keyes, founder of AID for America. “This is a huge undertaking, but if there was ever a time to go the extra mile... the time is now! We need to help others now more than ever to reach our goal of building 20 homes,” he says.

Named “The Accessible Home,” the houses exhibit the ability to provide a functional and affordable home that overcomes the appearance of an institutional facility. The homes are 1000 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths, on one level, with green technology at the forefront of the project.

“Through AID’s focused efforts, we have been able to have the homes donated and the only costs involved are the transportation of home and foundation,” says Rev. Keyes.

The builders, approached the design by addressing the daily living challenges of safe and accessible entryways, inside and out of the house, limited reach capabilities in the kitchen, and bathroom accessibility.
