Max Cure Foundation Launches “Max Cure Beyond Barriers” Initiative as Part of an Effort to Support Families Battling Pediatric Cancer

New York, NY, November 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Professional athletes, corporate leaders, oncologists and Manhattans finest came together at the Theory store on Madison Avenue to raise money for the launch of the “Max Cure Beyond Barriers” initiative. This initiative will benefit two families, one from Harlem and another from Brooklyn, New York and will support an effort to relieve the financial burden associated with pediatric cancer.

“When a child is diagnosed with cancer, there are barriers that both the child and their family must face. These include language, income, geography and or cultures as well as the emotional, physical and financial stress that comes with the diagnosis. I’m honored to have John Franco and Trent Tucker part of the Max Cure Team” said David Plotkin, Co-Founder of The Max Cure Foundation. “We are here to raise money and awareness for a great cause,” said former NY Mets Relief Pitcher, John Franco. “What they are trying to do is very special in terms of giving back to help children with cancer,” said former NBA NY Knicks and World Champion Chicago Bulls, Trent Tucker, who has been named the Circle of Pride Ambassador for the foundation. “The Max Cure shopping event at THEORY has gone above all expectations - With over 200 guests packed into this trendy shop on Madison Avenue, it is evident that the night goes well beyond fashion and style. Our success for the evening is having this captive audience ready to embrace our important cause,” says Linda Shapiro. “As Trent Tucker’s publicist, manager and friend for over 20 years, I knew he would be the perfect partner for the Max Cure Foundation Beyond Barriers Initiative. I’m fortunate to work with many celebrities and their nonprofit foundations and honored to bring amazing people together through their great work while creating ongoing opportunities such as this for The Max Cure Foundation and my celebrity clients,” says MJ Pedone.

“The Max Cure Foundation Beyond Barriers Initiative is closely aligned with PNC’s commitment to supporting the communities where we live and work,” said Joe Whall, PNC’s director of client and community relations for northern and central New Jersey. “We are privileged to work with a leading organization like the Max Cure Foundation to provide financial support to families and young children battling cancer in New York City at a time when the need has never been greater.”

Over two hundred people attended the Theory shopping event and 20% of the evening’s proceeds and sales throughout the weekend, were donated to the Max Cure Foundation.
