A certified building analyst from Dr. Energy Saver Yorktown has been featured on The Hampton Roads Show to talk about the sources and solutions to energy loss in a home.

Yorktown, VA, November 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Kevin Kramer, a certified building analyst from Dr. Energy Saver Yorktown has recently been featured on the local television program, The Hampton Roads Show.

The Hampton Roads Show is a local lifestyle TV show that airs on weekday mornings at 11 a.m. on WAVY channel 10, in front of a live studio audience.

Leaky houses are big money wasters according to Kramer, who says that such leaks cause a homeowner to continue paying to heat a space over and over again. In other words, the heat from the first time the heater turned on has already been lost, and has to be replenished, so the heater continues turning off and on.

"Most homes are 2-3 times leakier than what they should be," said Kramer.

As heat rises, it leaks out of the house and through the attic. Cold air then leaks back into the house, creating a continuous heating cycle that will cost you financially.

Looking to upgrade insulation or replace windows and doors? Kramer added a disclaimer that these may not be the root of the problem. Instead, Kramer recommends a whole house energy audit to identify where air is leaking out of your home.

Stay tuned to The Hampton Roads show to see a return of Dr. Energy Saver on Thursday, December 8, 2011.
