The semifinal of the nationwide online drawing contest Sunny Island is now underway. Over the week visitors to the contest website are invited to choose among the 80 semifinalists the 10 entries they believe most deserve a place in the final.

Moscow, Russia, December 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Sunny Island contest has attracted more than 1,500 children, a total of 1,657 entries, and some 89,000 votes. Every day the competition website draws over 1,500 visitors and this week, November 21 – 27, can be expected to be marked by vigorous voting to determine the 10 finalists. Visitors to the site wishing to vote for their favorite entry simply need to register, click on the drawing of their choice and press the “vote” button.

Once the results of the semifinal are known, the winning entrants will be decided by a panel of judges at the Banki.ru press center. Above all, the judges will be looking for correspondence with the Sunny Island theme, originality, richness of images, and overall creativity. Of the five winners in each age group, the entrants awarded first and second prizes can look forward to a holiday in Cyprus for two and an Apple iPad, respectively. Other prizes, which include professional art kits, cameras, and graphic tablets, will be shared by the finalists and based on the number of votes they received in the semifinal. In December all entrants will have a chance to win an Apple iPhone 4 mobile phone by taking part in a special prize draw.

The panel of judges includes Uniastrum Bank President Gagik Zakaryan, Bank.ru CVO Yelena Ishcheeva, as well as the celebrities Dmitri Dibrov, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, Boris Grachevsky, and Tatiana Vedeneeva.

The contest is open to all children aged 6-12 ordinarily resident in the Russian Federation. All in all, the competition has drawn a wide and enthusiastic response, the entrants receiving a warm message of welcome by Cyprus’s Ambassador to Russia, Petros Kestoras, who stressed that the ultimate purpose of the contest accords perfectly with the official policy of the Cypriot Government to work to strengthen and extend the already excellent ties between Cyprus and Russia.
