Think Design Art Festival – Phuket’s First Art Festival is Just Around the Corner

The Think Design Magazine Art Festival taking place from the 27th to the 30th of December at Royal Phuket Marina is focused on promoting various forms of art, specifically Thai artists and Phuket culture in general. This continues to be the focus of Think Design Magazine's mission, to make Phuket a cultural destination for the good of all residents, tourists and locals alike.

Phuket, Thailand, December 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The long awaited Think Design Art Festival at Royal Phuket Marina is almost upon us, and it promises to be a fantastic celebration of the arts. On December 27 and up until the 30th of December, the Art Festival will be showcasing artists from all over the world, their work and their ideas, presented in person by the artists themselves. Musicians will be performing each afternoon. Artists will be teaching children and inspiring the next generation. Video art will be shown in two massive video rooms. Some art will be accompanied by special performance. Installation art will be on display and sculpture will be seen on the boardwalk. Spoken word will be performed and much, much more. Come and be part of the fun. The Festival will run from 11am to 8pm each day.

Marilyn Band is just one artist of many who will be presenting their work during the festival. She is a Phuket favorite and said, “I am pleased to have been invited to join Phuket’s first Arts Festival together with fellow foreign and Thai artists and hope it will turn into an annual event.”

The Spanish artist living in Los Angeles, Gomez Bueno, who also will be exhibiting, contributed to the enthusiasm by saying “it will be the first time to expose my work in Thailand and I am very excited about this Festival. The list of artists looks great!”

Another Phuket institution, John Underwood is presenting a variety of work from sculpture to installation to painting as well. Many local artists can truly be discovered during the festival and for many Thai artists, this will be the first time they present their work to large crowds.

A percentage of proceeds of sales will go to the Phuket Has Been Good to Us Foundation and the Soi Dog Foundation, two of Phuket’s most deserving charities. Both of these charities do amazing things for the local community.

Royal Phuket Marina is a great venue for the Festival. Gulu Lalvani who developed RPM and lives there himself, sees strong potential in the future of the Festival. Everyone who is in Phuket during that week, should stop by and join in the fun. Different bands, flash mobs and performances each day so repeat visits are recommended.
