Sassy Scrubs Helps Clothe Those in Need at San Francisco’s Walden House

San Francisco’s Walden House seeks assistance from the Upstate NY scrub manufacturer, Sassy Scrubs, to help clothe new arrivals as they take the first steps in living their new lives, free from addiction.

Penn Yan, NY, December 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Sassy Scrubs had the honor of helping an organization that has more than 40 years of experience in "Giving Hope and Changing Lives" to those with addictions. Sassy Scrubs became involved with this organization when Walden House contacted Company President, Karen Bradley, to request a scrubs donation. The scrub uniforms were not requested for the staff of Walden House, but for the people who arrive at their doors seeking help.

Pioneering in behavioral health since 1969, Walden House is based in San Francisco, California. Earlier this year they announced their merger with Haight Ashbury Free Clinics, which allows them to meet both primary care and behavioral health services in their communities. Walden House offers the compassion, resources, services and tools necessary to help people recover and maintain a lifestyle free from addiction. They teach, house, clothe and feed those with addictions, with the hope of helping people to transition back into their communities. Last year, they served over 9,000 clients at their various residential and outpatient centers throughout California.

Often, the people who seek assistance from Walden House are the most difficult to reach and those people most vulnerable: the mentally ill, people stricken with AIDS, emotionally disturbed and abused adolescents, the poor, and the homeless. Many come directly from jail or prison. Due to the addictions they face, combined with their often destitute living situations, those appealing to Walden House for help often have only the clothes on their backs when they arrive. Walden House provides the new arrivals with showers, new clothes, and warm food as the very first steps on their road to recovery. The organization requested scrubs as a comfortable and safe solution to the problem of helping to clothe the new arrivals as their “wear in” clothes are laundered, and their new wardrobes are prepared.

Walden House was extremely appreciative of the donation and explained that they were in “dire need” of help from Sassy Scrubs. The Penn Yan (NY) company, which manufactures custom made nursing and medical uniforms, was pleased and proud to be able to help the Walden House residents on their path to a new life.
