Fort Lauderdale, FL, January 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The LA Advance Center announced today the immediate availability of “Job Help For Boomers,” an educational workshop created to empower mature Florida job seekers with the skills required to plan and organize present-day job search strategies. Oswaldo Lamon, LA Advance Center Director of Operations said, “Many individuals in the baby boomer generation who are currently looking for work or that fear losing their jobs in the near future, are unfamiliar with 21st century job search methods. Our goal is to provide these boomers with a toolkit of practical skills and know-how to deploy effective job search campaigns.”

Some of the topics that will be covered in the workshop include:

· Recognizing the transferability of skills and experience to other vocations
· Effective use of social branding tools
· Networking and formation of "social capital" to uncover unadvertised job opportunities
· How to modernize, structure, and streamline resumes and cover letters
· How to improve interviewing and communication skills
· How to find key decision makers and uncover hidden opportunities
· Where to find sources of free or inexpensive education and training material

Additionally, workshop participants will be given access to a “members only” portal that contains a wide variety of resources, tools, tips and tactics to help baby boomers find work.

According to the Census Bureau, the United States population currently embraces 78 million inhabitants who are members of the baby boomer generation born between 1946 and 1964. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that 46.7% of the US labor force will consist of individuals aged 55+ by 2016. “The ability to uncover hidden job opportunities will help determine the financial security of millions of Americans today and in the future,” Lamon added. “It doesn’t take that much time to learn the basics.”
