University Team usa Netball Trials Announced

Westminster, CA, January 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Netball America (www.netballamerica.com) announced today the date and location for the final round of the University Team USA Netball tryouts. No Netball experience necessary, team oriented, sports minded women is all that is needed and our world class coaches will teach you a game that will take you to South Africa.

Team USA Netball will compete in the World University Championships in Cape Town South Africa July 2-7. Leading up to this event the team will compete against the USA Netball West Region team on Friday June 22 at WNBA Seattle Storm game at Key Arena. This will have a crowd of approx. 8000 basketball fans as the team will perform before and during the game.

For the first time, Netball, a “recognized” Olympic sport and played by more than 20 million people, is being included as an official sport in the upcoming inaugural World University Championships in Cape Town, South Africa July 2012. The Team will also conduct goodwill visits to schools and orphanages to experience the true South African culture while being able to promote health and wellness through Netball.

Netball is similar to Basketball however there is no dribbling, the ball and basket are slightly smaller, there is no backboard, and players are designated to certain areas of the court. “The great thing about Netball is that you don’t have to be tall or fast to play it,” says Ottaway, “and with Netball America growing the sport so quickly throughout the US it’s giving Americans an opportunity to participate in a sport that relies more on teamwork than natural physical skills.”
