Tempe, AZ, February 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- 24th Annual Great Arizona Beer Festival Presented by azcentral.com to Feature Arizona's Largest Festival Selection of Craft Beers

Attracting thousands of beer connoisseurs each year from across the Valley and beyond, the 24th annual Great Arizona Beer Festival takes place March 3, 2012 from 2 pm to 6 pm (VIP entry at 1 pm) at Tempe Beach Park. Featuring over 200 craft, specialty and micro-brewed beers from over 50 breweries across Arizona, the US and around the globe, the Great Arizona Beer Festival is the largest beer festival in the southwest, both in terms of number of brewers attending and selection of craft beers. The festival also holds the distinction of being the longest-running beer festival in Arizona, and includes a nationally sanctioned beer competition.

Because participating breweries generously donate the beer served at The Great Arizona Beer Festival to benefit the work of Sun Sounds of Arizona, 100 percent of the proceeds go straight to support this unique non-profit organization, which provides access to newspapers, magazines, periodicals and books for 49,000 blind and print-impaired listeners in Arizona. Content is available 24/7 via radio, phone, internet and cable TV, and is produced and delivered by 500 volunteer readers throughout the state. The Great Arizona Beer Festival is the primary fundraising event for Sun Sounds and is made possible through the donations of participating brewers, sponsors and the work of hundreds of volunteers.

Presented by azcentral.com, the festival is dedicated to the enjoyment of fine craft brews. The festival also features live music, games, a variety of food and other vendors, and entertainment for attendees age 21 and over.

The festival’s Safe Ride Home program ensures opportunities for everyone to make it home safely, whether by taxi, designated driver or the nearby Valley METRO Light Rail. Alphagraphics is the official event printer, GoMobile is the official mobile web provider, and KDKB 93.3 FM is the official FM radio sponsor.

This year’s event also includes:

Pre-festival events open to the public, including the beer judging in the annual Great Arizona Beer Competition (Feb. 17th), in which attendees may learn about the judging process, and preview some of the beers to be sampled at the March 3rd festival -- and the annual AZBeer.com Pub Crawl (Feb. 25th);
Scannable tags on brewers’ tents at the Great Arizona Beer Festival, which attendees can use to quickly learn about participating brewers and the beers they are pouring by using a smartphone, and a free downloadable application to access each brewer’s mobile site.

A variety of contests and promotions leading up to the event via fan pages on Facebook, Twitter, and azbeer.com.

“Every year we look for new ways to keep making the festival better and more exciting, and this year we’ve added two new events leading up to the festival, to really reach out to fans of craft beer, as well as some exciting new contests online,” says Sue DesParte, returning chair of the 2012 event. “I’m also looking forward to raising as much money as possible, since every dollar we earn goes directly to Sun Sounds of Arizona.”

The VIP Experience, presented by Phoenix Magazine, features casino-style gaming including blackjack, poker, roulette and craps, with opportunities to bid on raffle and auction prizes using casino “winnings.” All proceeds benefit Sun Sounds of Arizona. Additional VIP perks include early entry to the festival, an exclusive lounge area, catered food, access to award-winning brewers, VIP seating with shade, separate restrooms, free festival t-shirt and gift bag.

Designated Drivers enjoy access to the private Designated Driver Pavilion, featuring non-alcoholic beverages, food and entertainment specifically for those who support our beer-drinkers with a safe ride home.

Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the gate for general admission, including up to 24 different beer samples, or $85 in advance/$90 at the gate for VIP admission. VIP tickets include entry into the “VIP Experience,” including all the above listed amenities and VIP’s may enter an hour before the festival starts. Designated drivers receive entry to the festival for only $10, including access to the Designated Driver Pavilion, or $20 if accompanying a VIP, including access to the VIP Experience presented by Phoenix Magazine.
