Chukar Cherries Offers Locally Grown, Locally Made Valentine’s Day Gifts

Pacific Northwest cherry company takes local fruit from orchard to chocolate box.

Prosser, WA, February 04, 2012 --( With Valentine’s Day only two weeks away, Chukar Cherries, a specialty food company in Washington State, is highlighting unique Valentine’s gifts crafted from Pacific Northwest cherries and artisan chocolate. Creating locally grown, all natural Valentine gifts comes at an opportune time due to predictions that consumer demand for local foods will increase in 2012.

According to the National Restaurant Association, locally grown produce is at the top of trends for 2012. However, buying local is nothing new for Chukar. Since 1988, Chukar has sourced cherries from their own or nearby Northwest cherry orchards. Ongoing partnerships with local growers remain a key ingredient to Chukar’s strategy. According to founder and CEO Pam Montgomery, “Knowing firsthand the fresh crop outlook in size and quality and partnering to buy from local growers is a hallmark of our springtime operations. We look forward to each new crop year.”

Chukar manufactures nearly all their products at their factory headquarters in Prosser, WA—in the heart of the Northwest’s cherry growing region. Chukar’s mission is to make the journey from orchard to table as short as possible.

For Valentine’s Day Chukar is offering the Cherry Heart Box, a perennial favorite that contains dried Northwest cherries coated in premium chocolate. Chukar’s Cherry Heart Box was designed by Washington artist, Jim Hays and contains milk chocolate covered dried cherries as well as Chukar’s signature chocolate-covered cherries with natural wine flavoring.

Chukar is also offering several Valentine’s Day tins and gift baskets. In particular, their Cherry Love Gift Basket contains a Cherry Heart Box, 100% natural Maraschino Cherries, Raspberry Truffles, Cherries 4 Wine, and a cherry nut mix.

Chukar’s Valentine’s Day gifts and full product line can be found at their storefront in Seattle’s Pike Place Market, at their factory storefront in Prosser, Washington and online at
