Houston Housing Authority Awarded $250,000 for Safety & Security Improvements

Houston, TX, February 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Houston Housing Authority (HHA) was awarded $250,000 by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to improve safety and security systems at Kelly Village, a family public housing development in Houston’s Fifth Ward. The HUD award will allow HHA to install security cameras and improve lighting throughout the 333 unit site. The competitive grant is part of a $4.1 million award given to 17 public housing authorities nationwide.

“We are very pleased to win this grant from HUD, which will help improve security at the property for our residents,” said Houston Housing Authority President & CEO Tory Gunsolley. “Thanks to the hard work of HHA staff that worked on the grant proposal, Kelly Village will be a safer place for residents to call home.”
