The San Antonio chapter is indicative of the remarkable growth that women-owned businesses are experiencing not only in Texas, but across the nation. As of 2006, there are an estimated 41,088 privately held, majority women-owned firms in San Antonio, accounting for 51% of all privately held firms in the metropolitan area, generating $6.3 billion in sales and employing 40,508 people.
“Our members are influential, powerful women who contribute significantly to the economy,” said Dr. Marsha Firestone, president and founder of the WPO. “We are intensely proud of the incredible growth of the WPO and the women who made it happen.”
