Richmond, VA, February 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Mercer Rug Cleansing, a recently bankrupt family business that had operated in Richmond for over 120 years has been purchased and is being revived by a family-owned carpet cleaning company based in Alexandria, VA. Hadeed Carpet, a highly successful family-owned and operated business for over 55 years, has purchased and taken over day-to-day control of the landmark Richmond cleaning company.

Mercer Rug Cleansing and Victory Rug Cleaning (a local company that was under Mercer’s ownership), have continuously served the Greater Richmond community for over 120 years. The two businesses, formerly owned by the late George Mercer, never ceased operating, and have successfully survived 2011 bankruptcy proceedings thanks to Joe Hadeed, CEO of Hadeed Carpet Cleaning, Inc.
“It’s business as usual for Mercer,” explained Mr. Hadeed. “We not only intend to preserve all the jobs at Mercer, but hope to create new ones as our business expands.”
