Elite Fitness Systems Adds Melanson to Team EliteFTS

London, OH, May 23, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Elite Fitness Systems (www.elitefts.com), a recognized leader in strength training and conditioning, has named Neil Melanson to Team EliteFTS.

Team EliteFTS is comprised of professional and collegiate strength coaches, world-class powerlifters, rehabilitation and performance enhancement specialists. Melanson will join the ranks as a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and grappling expert and provide training advice and insight on the team’s website, www.elitefts.com.

“Neil is a strong and solid asset for Elite,” said Dave Tate, founder and CEO of Elite Fitness Systems. “He’s a confident and capable trainer, who brings a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise to our team.”

Melanson, a former military dog handler and trainer while in the Navy and federal agent, currently coaches and corners competitors in the Ultimate Fighting Championship events. He is much sought after for his technical ability as a grappling practitioner and his skill to formulate game plans for competitive MMA fighting.

Originally trained as a powerlifter, Melanson became a federal air marshal and taught fighting techniques to his fellow agents. After being diagnosed with Behcet’s disease, an autoimmune disease that has left him blind in one eye and unable to compete, Melanson turned to training fighters full time. In June, he will begin teaching at the Compound, a new MMA facility, which is opening in Oceanside, Calif.
