)-- April sees Pincho Week arrive to the northern region of Navarra in Spain, a gourmet treat for any lover of Spanish food and animated cities. The pincho (or pintxo) is a local version of the tapa, except in Navarra it gets a gourmet makeover. Creative, delicious and beautiful the pinchos are something that local Navarrans are rightly proud of.
During Pincho Week in the city of Pamplona, all bars and restaurants take part in a citywide competition to find the best pincho of the city. Pre-determined routes are set out for visitors to taste a wide selection of pinchos in each bar.
Matched with a local wine, the tasting is a delight for the senses as well as for the appetite.
At the end of the pincho route visitors are invited to vote on their favourite pincho via text message. The votes are collated at the end of the festival and the coveted prize awarded to the bar that is deemed to produce the best dish.

The pincho-making class takes place in a local bar giving visitors the opportunity to really get under the skin of the local foodie culture.
