£80,000 Cast of Marilyn Monroe’s Hands and Feet Offered for Sale

Bristol, United Kingdom, March 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Iconicus Studios has teamed up with Paul Fraser Collectibles to offer a unique cast of Marilyn Monroe’s hands and feet, which is expected to sell for £80,000.

The bronze cast is the artist's proof from a mold obtained from Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.

In 1953, following her appearance in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Marilyn Monroe and co-star Jane Russell, were invited to add their hand and foot prints to the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre, as has been the tradition for Hollywood Stars since 1927.

Molds of the Grauman Chinese Theatre hand and foot prints were subsequently made by the Theatre's contractor to protect the famous theatre against the threat of an earthquake or other disaster.

These molds were kept in a storage facility until 1963, when the contents were sold at auction. The molds were eventually acquired by Iconicus Studios who have since obtained an official licence from The Estate of Marilyn Monroe, to reproduce valuable limited edition pieces of this iconic image.

"Artist proof 001" is the very first bronze mold produced. The production of the bronze range will be limited to 20 life-size pieces in total. In addition limited editions will be produced in fine crystal and perhaps in investment grade clear cast acrylic in smaller sizes.

Iconicus spokesman Bryan Gill commented;
"It's an exciting project for all of us and equally exciting for all Marilyn Monroe fans. The casts will be produced with certificates of authenticity from Iconicus Studios and the Monroe Estate, as 'officially licensed product.'"

Paul Fraser Collectibles are currently taking offers on artist proof 001 which is estimated to sell for £80,000.
