The IMC Club Partners with GAMA

Norwood, MA, March 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The IMC Club International, an aviation organization devoted to instrument proficiency with chapters nationwide, announced its partnership with the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) to host the IFR Proficiency Center at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin held July 23-29, 2012.

The IMC Club was founded in 2010 with the goal of increasing proficiency and improving safety among instrument rated pilots. The club has grown rapidly and currently has 1350 members in 33 chapters in the United States and one in Botswana, Africa.

The IMC Club aims to create local communities of instrument rated pilots and those aspiring to achieve this rating. Local chapters meet monthly in a forum of organized “hangar flying” where pilots share information and encourage safer instrument flying amongst their peers. Discussion with experienced instructors and other instrument-rated pilots helps members apply what they learn in instrument training to real-life scenarios. The IMC Club is the only organization of its kind.

“I believe that safety and proficiency are developed through education and experience. Our monthly meetings are designed to engage our members and allow them to share and build their experience. We will demonstrate at Oshkosh that the experience and engagement of the participants is more productive and useful than a single presenter type of seminar.” – said IMC Club President Radek Wyrzykowski. “This is going to be truly a ‘Global Chapter Meeting’.”

The seminars at AirVenture will focus on improving instrument proficiency through a modified version of the IMC Club’s chapter meetings. The National Transportation Safety Board will also be on hand to present at the seminars.

“GAMA is proud to be involved with the IMC Club and its proven method of promoting safe instrument flying operations and pilot currency,” said GAMA President and CEO Pete Bunce. “Every instrument rated pilot can benefit from these forums and what better place to do it than at the greatest aviation event in the world.”

GAMA is an international trade association representing over 70 of the world's leading manufacturers of general aviation airplanes and rotorcraft, engines, avionics, components and related services. GAMA's members also operate repair stations, fixed based operations, pilot and maintenance training facilities and manage fleets of aircraft. GAMA fosters and advances the welfare, safety, and interests of General Aviation by working with governments and industry leaders to promote a better understanding of the important role General Aviation plays worldwide in economic growth and development. GAMA is headquartered in Washington, DC, with a European office in Brussels, Belgium.
