Philadelphia, PA, April 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Pennsylvania labor union and employment law firm Willig, Williams & Davidson has been honored with Philadelphia VIP’s (Volunteers for the Indigent) Silver Gavel Award in recognition of the firm’s outstanding level of commitment to the provision of pro bono legal services. The award was presented on March 19, 2012, during VIP’s annual awards ceremony and reception.

Each year, the Silver Gavel Award is given to law firms (one small, one mid-sized and one large firm) and individuals accepting a significant number of referrals and providing extraordinary service to VIP and its clients. Willig, Williams & Davidson is the mid-sized law firm recipient of the award for the year 2011.

“As attorneys committed to protecting the rights of working people, our lawyers recognize the importance of aiding the less fortunate members of our community,” said Managing Partner Deborah R. Willig, Esq. “We are particularly proud of our longstanding tradition of providing pro bono legal services to Philadelphia VIP, which offers crucial assistance to those who cannot afford an attorney. We look forward to many more years of affiliation with this outstanding organization.”

Philadelphia VIP, the hub of pro bono in Philadelphia, was founded in 1981 by the Philadelphia Bar Association and Community Legal Services to meet the legal needs of low-income Philadelphians by recruiting and training attorneys to provide pro bono legal services. Today, VIP’s diverse volunteers serve more than 3,000 clients annually with legal issues that affect basic human needs.
