Drug-Free South Brings World Health Day Celebration Home
The Foundation for a Drug-Free South participates in worldwide events to educate the community about the dangers of drugs. For World Health Day, they distributed booklets to their neighbors.
Nashville, TN, April 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Whether it is a simple community gathering or a large festival, the Foundation for a Drug-Free World spreads a simple message: The Truth About Drugs. That is the name of the popular booklet which contains facts about the most commonly abused drugs and which is produced by the Foundation internationally.
“It is our mission to get the right information out there in the community so the youth can absorb correct data instead of lies perpetuated by drug dealers,” says Rev. Brian Fesler who coordinates the Drug-Free South program.
In tribute to World Health Day, Drug-Free South participated in a Health Fair in Nashville, giving out booklets to neighbors who can in turn pass them along to friends. “These booklets are full of solid research, but presented in a way that’s easy to understand,” says Fesler.
Every year, World Health Day is celebrated on April 7 to mark the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization in 1948. Drug-Free World sees World Health Day as an opportunity to continue the fight to defeat drug abuse internationally.
Fesler continues: “We do all types of educational events, from lectures in schools to passing out the booklets, to video showings in the community center, it is important that we reach out with this information in all possible ways.”
