CASE Commercial Real Estate Partners Enters Joint Venture with Amicus Partners to Launch Data Center Advisory Services

Dallas, TX, April 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- CASE Commercial Real Estate Partners (CASE) today announced a joint venture with Amicus Partners, an advisory and business development practice supporting the mission critical provider industry and its investors, to launch Data Center Advisory Services. Leading the new service line are senior managing directors Jeff Crawford, Chuck Smith, and Jim Mangus, who have combined over 50 years of operational data center experience.

Data Center Advisory Services was founded by CASE in efforts to offer a higher level of understanding and perspective to the commercial real estate industry including advice on technical, regulatory and compliance related issues, site selection, development and design, landlord representation, management, tenant representation and project investment opportunities.

“We recognize the growing demands within the data center industry, and rather than take sales professionals and convert them into data center experts, we thought we could create a much more powerful initiative by partnering with a team of data center insiders like Amicus who know the technology and requirements inside and out,” says Tom Sutherland, principal at CASE. “We are extremely excited to offer this unparalleled level of expertise to the industry.”

Data center outsourcing (DCO) spending in North America was $33 billion in 2011, while Web hosting and colocation totaled $23 billion, according to a report completed in February of this year by Gartner, Inc. The report indicated that North America has the highest cloud adoption rate, with 60 percent of public cloud services worldwide, and the US hosting market has continued to accelerate the pace of innovation and transformation.

CASE’s Data Center Advisory Services goes beyond what even the most seasoned commercial real estate professionals can offer, with a deep first-hand understanding of compliance requirements, migration planning, virtualization initiatives, aging facilities and their maintenance needs, and equipment refresh cycles. They can offer assistance with reviewing Service Level Agreements and Master Service Agreements that aren’t typically seen in conventional real estate.

“Over 50% of the data center transactions that occur today are not represented by brokers – largely because CIOs and CTOs don’t always involve their corporate real estate representatives in the discussion,” says Smith.

“We have already uncovered one such data center requirement that was previously unknown to the company’s traditional broker. Today we are co-brokering the requirement to create a win-win for both the client and the broker.”

Crawford explains that this very scenario exemplifies both why the team came into commercial real estate, and why CASE is the perfect partner. “Data Centers have received an incredible amount of attention from the commercial real estate world, but the less the transactions look like traditional real estate leases, the more critical it is to engage with trained professionals like us.”

“When it comes to the nuances of a data center deployment, there are no substitutes for operational experience,” continues Crawford. “CASE gives us the backing of a strong regional team that is well-established, national reach through its affiliation with the TCN network, and a platform that is non-threatening to other regional brokerages that can help their clients with our operational background and expertise.”
