Bayer MaterialScience "IDs" New Developments in Card Security

Miami, FL, April 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Card security and technology are constantly evolving and improving. More card manufacturers are seeking increased security measures. When it comes to the latest developments increasing safety, Bayer MaterialScience LLC holds the trump card.

In addition to its already established line of materials for cards, Bayer is adding a new and improved product to its offerings. Bayer’s existing anti-scratch Makrofol® ID 320 film, a 2011 Elan-Award winner, is now offered in a laser-engravable version. Not only does this simplify card construction, but it is a significant improvement in the film’s security capabilities.

This new film offers a number of benefits to card manufacturers. It can be laminated similarly to conventional polycarbonate films, and cards made with this film do not require additional layers of laser-engravable film. This new innovation from Bayer is ideal for card producers seeking to incorporate high-resolution images and tactile elements into high-durability, long-life ID documents.

Bayer showcased the new developments for its Makrofol ID 320 film at its booth, #41, at ICMA’s 2012 Card Manufacturing & Personalization EXPO, April 15-18, in Miami. In addition to its new laser-engravable film capability, Bayer also featured its other film and card technologies, such as its Makrofol ID Dyefusion for color personalization of IDs and cards made of polycarbonate, as well as its Bayfol® HX line of light-sensitive films utilized to produce holograms.

Visitors also saw Bayer’s full line of Makrofol ID polycarbonate, Platilon® ID thermoplastic polyurethane and Bayfol HX light-sensitive, holographic films, samples of which were on display at the Bayer booth.
