Buy A Meal Give A Meal Connects Charities and the Restaurant Industry to Help Needy Children

Leading global nonprofit children’s movement, Buy A Meal Give A Meal (BAMGAM), has today announced its launch in California and key partnerships with Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and The Lime Truck, winner of Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race. Through these partnerships, BAMGAM will deliver much needed support to underprivileged children across Orange County and Africa.

The BAMGAM movement works with the restaurant industry and charities to nourish and support children in need by providing a platform for restaurants and their patrons to directly contribute to children’s charities. Participating restaurants have the opportunity to donate to a BAMGAM partner charity. During May and June, The Lime Truck will be donating 25 cents of every carnitas fries order to support Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and JAM International.

“We are thrilled to be supporting a cause that will directly help the local food bank,” said Daniel Shemtob, Owner, The Lime Truck. “It is through the experience of everyday eating that BAMGAM will help people give back. As a participating food truck, we will benefit from engagement with our community, knowing they are part of a movement gathering critical mass globally.”

BAMGAM offers sustainable funding solutions for its charitable partners, while providing social awareness and promotional support for its restaurant industry partners. Present in Australia and South Africa, BAMGAM is working towards the goal of supporting and nourishing over one million underprivileged children each day. Its vision is to harness the power of giving and foster a movement where simply buying a meal gives basic nourishment or support to a child in need.

“At the heart of BAMGAM is the simple principle of creating an easy and sustainable way for people to give to children in need,” said Brandon Sowers, co-founder, BAMGAM. “Critical to our success are our partnerships with children’s charities and restaurant industry leaders who will donate to these charities. Even more important is the need to raise awareness with Americans who value supporting local businesses striving to make social change. It is through this support that BAMGAM will have a meaningful impact.”

“With government and family budgets tightening we have an opportunity to focus on Orange County restaurants helping the local community,” said Joe Schoeningh, Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank Orange County. “The need is great and BAMGAM is a simple and innovative way in which the community can support children in need.”
