UNESCO IHE Hosts Symposium with International Ultraviolet Association & IUVA Exhibits Technology at AccaDueO in Italy

The International Ultraviolet Association is educating the H20 industry in Europe and the U.S. about the benefits of using UV technology for the disinfection of water.

Washington, DC, May 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) is actively exhibiting and discussing Ultraviolet (UV) Technology in Europe this spring. UV Technology disinfects water supplies and impacts the health and quality of life of individuals living in small and large communities. The IUVA EMEA Hub office, headed by Dr. Andreas Kolch, will be exhibiting UV Technology at AccaDueO in Ferrara, Italy on May 23, 2012. Dr. Kolch will lead a seminar on worldwide UV regulations and approval procedures. Visit http://www.accadueo.com/en/accadueo/ for information about this international showcase of technologies for treatment and distribution of drinking water and wastewater treatment.

On June 7, 2012, IUVA will team up with UNESCO IHE to present a one-day symposium in Delft, The Netherlands about “UV Disinfection for Emerging and Developing Countries” at the Delft UNESCO IHE facility.

“The demand for decentralized water treatment is growing at a rapid pace,” said Dr. Andreas Kolch, IUVA EMEA Hub Director. “The growth rate is linked closely with emerging and developing country market needs for solutions other than the Western Hemisphere’s centralized infrastructure model,” added Kolch. Since UV water disinfection technology can be efficiently deployed on a smaller scale, its application appeals to leaders in the water and wastewater treatment industry in emerging countries.

IUVA and UNESCO IHE will donate one-third of the registration fees received for the symposium for a UNESCO water project.

“We are pleased to be educating leaders and decision makers in emerging countries about the benefits of decentralized water treatment,” said Deborah Martinez, IUVA Executive Director. “Partnering with UNESCO IHE enables IUVA scientists, members and sponsors to reach populations that are in critical need of this technology to ensure good health, survival of curable diseases and a clean environment,” added Martinez.

Students may register for the symposium at no charge. Manufacturers interested in sponsoring this event may email deb.martinez@iuva.org. Participants are encouraged to Register for the IUVA UNESCO IHE Symposium online.

IUVA’s mission is to advance the science, engineering and applications of ultraviolet technologies to enhance the quality of human life and to protect the environment. Founded in 1999, it is a 501(c)3 educational association of more than 500 members in 35 countries. IUVA is recognized as the leading knowledge-base and voice for UV technologies through its varied conferences and programs. Visit iuva.org.
