Fit Body Boot Camp Challenges Upland Residents to Lose 1,000 lbs. Over 28 Days with Discounted Boot Camp Workouts. All Proceeds Raised from the 1,000 lb. Meltdown Challenge Will Go to Local Charity.

Upland, CA, May 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Fitness boot camp franchise Fit Body Boot Camp has put together a national campaign to bring awareness to the growing obesity problem in America. The 1,000 lb. Meltdown Challenge’s goal is to get local residents of participating cities to lose 1,000 pounds in 28 days. The 1,000 pound Meltdown Challenge at Fit Body Boot Camp Upland will start on June 4th and all participants will be charged $20 for the 28-day program, and all proceeds will be donated to House of Ruth charity.

“The goal is to inspire and motivate residents to lose weight as part of Fit Body Boot Camp’s Vision to expose and engage twenty percent of the world’s population to a healthy and fit lifestyle by 2020,” says Bedros Keuilian, co-founder of Fit Body Boot Camp. “Obesity isn’t just a personal problem. It is a national and a global problem.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States. More than one-third of the U.S. adults are obese, and approximately 17% of children and adolescents are obese. A recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that people with close bonds set a great example for one another; if they gain weight together, they can also lose it together.

“My mission with the 1,000 lb. Meltdown Challenge is to spread the word of fitness and awareness on weight loss and to do my part in stopping the obesity epidemic,” says Leandro Cabico, owner of Fit Body Boot Camp Upland. “And to educate and show people in Upland that exercising can be fun, and that by doing so at Fit Body Boot Camp, you will never be alone reaching your goals.”

The initial roll-out of the 1,000-pound Meltdown Challenge will be on May 7th and in the following cities: La Jolla, CA; Upland, CA; San Clemente, CA; Santa Clarita, CA; Fort Collins, CO; Orlando, FL; Pinellas Park, FL; Tampa, FL; Hudson, OH; Solon, OH; Takoma Park, MD; Sewell, NJ; Albuquerque, NM; Deer Park NY; and Portland, OR.
