New Ports and Unique Events Strengthen 2013 Programme for Voyages to Antiquity

Voyages to Antiquity Announce Their 2013 Cruise Programme

Oxford, United Kingdom, May 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Voyages to Antiquity, the cruise line that combines the very best in cultural travel with the comfort and convenience of boutique-style cruising, has today launched its 2013 brochure exploring the best of the ancient Mediterranean civilisations.

The programme for 2013 will strengthen the Company’s focus on history and culture with 16 cruises from March through to November 2013 including the new destinations of Carcassonne, Palma, Barcelona, The Island of Elba, Izmir and Jerusalem.

More time will be spent in ports to allow passengers the opportunity to enjoy the destinations; passengers sailing into or out of Venice on some itineraries will benefit from two nights on board Aegean Odyssey in this dazzling city. Whilst there, they will be treated to a private evening visit to St Mark’s Basilica and a special lecture series presented by members of the city’s oldest families.

“These special events are proving very popular - we also arrange private evening visits to Athens’ fascinating Museum of Cycladic Art and offer passengers the opportunity for a private visit to Palazzo Gangi in Palermo. Those people travelling with Voyages to Antiquity will experience a different side to the destinations they visit.

“Greece, Italy and Sicily continue to be popular as they offer a comprehensive way to visit all the major sites such as Athens and Pompeii as well as less well known places such as Delos, Herculaneum and Segesta. We’ve also added a second Black Sea cruise for 2013, due the popularity of the itinerary over the last two years,” said David Yellow, Managing Director, Voyages to Antiquity.

The 2013 programme will build on the award winning lecture programme. From renowned historians - such as Mary Beard and Jonathan Phillips - to military experts like General Sir Michael Rose and well-known journalists such as Martin Bell, the lecturers’ expert knowledge of the areas visited brings to life the history of these remarkable civilisations.

As demand from single guests grows in response to the Company’s great value single pricing, eight new single cabins have been added on board Aegean Odyssey taking the total of single cabins to 26 across all grades of accommodation. Overall, prices continue to provide excellent value for money by including all shore excursions, gratuities to ship staff as well as wine/beer/soft drinks with dinner onboard, which with most other cruise lines are at additional cost.

About Voyages to Antiquity

Voyages to Antiquity aims to open a window into the origins and genius of ancient civilisations. These expertly planned voyages, however, are not only about history. As well as visiting breathtaking archaeological treasures, you will also see some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and experience the exquisite food and wine of the area.

Guest lecturers and expert speakers are an integral part of the Voyages to Antiquity experience, complementing the in-depth shore excursions which are included in the price, by bringing to life the art, history and culture of the regions visited.

The Aegean Odyssey is a premium class ship which combines the best features of a mid-size ship such as passenger space and choice of restaurants, with the personal service and intimate surroundings of a small ship.

Cruise in Comfort, Relax in Style - Originally a mid-size vessel carrying up to 570 passengers, the Aegean Odyssey’s new configuration of generously-sized suites, junior suites and staterooms, with and without balconies, means she now accommodates around 350 passengers, offering the sophisticated traveller every comfort at sea.

Extraordinary Value - A Voyage to Antiquity includes far more than just a cruise. On board you will find a casual and relaxed atmosphere, open seating dining, plus expert lecturers and guest speakers who will bring to life the history of the remarkable civilizations visited. Your cruise fare also includes shore excursions as described in the itinerary, gratuities and wine with dinner on board ship, flights from nine UK airports and transfers overseas. In many cases, pre- and/or post-cruise hotel stays are also included.
