New ACT2 Concealed Object Threat Detection System by Thermal Matrix on Display at SOFIC, May 22-24

Tampa, FL, May 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Thermal Matrix International, a company that specializes in systems that aid in the detection of concealed threat objects, including suicide bombers, has announced it will display its new ACT2 System at SOFIC, the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference, to be held in Tampa, May 22-24.

In addition, the company has produced a video demonstration of this technology in use. The two-minute video titled Thermal Matrix Entryway Test can be viewed on YouTube.

ACT2 is based on the company’s original ACT System, providing added capabilities that improve the ability of infrared sensors to reveal PBIEDs (person borne improvised explosive devices), including plastic, liquid, powder and gel explosives. The system will be in operation on the conference display floor, in Thermal Matrix booth #1050.

“SOFIC provides the ideal setting for our first open display of this advanced technology,” said Chris Jadick, VP of Communications for Thermal Matrix. “In the war on terror, standoff detection that can alert authorities and create an opportunity for intervention before a terrorist can reach the target or a security checkpoint is increasingly important. We are proud of our latest advancements, and look forward to meeting with those who need it.”

ACT2 integrates with infrared sensors, expanding on their abilities and providing security forces with an extra layer of detection long before a suspected terrorist can cause harm. The system improves concealed object threat detection through target identification, target tracking, and color analysis of potential PBIEDs. ACT2 also provides ability to display and control the imagery of multiple sensors, adding DVR functions so scenes can quickly be reviewed or archived. All of these features combine to improve the operator’s ability to use IR sensors for concealed object detection.

"The ability to combine multiple sensor view and command on a single screen is an important development, and at SOFIC we will display ACT2 integrated with two infrared sensors," Jadick said. "Each ACT2 system can integrate up to four infrared sensors, and can also include CCTV cameras, allowing this technology to be customized to meet a wide range of security needs under multiple scenarios."

The Thermal Matrix ACT2 Threat Detection System is portable, designed for quick set-up and deployment in remote locations, providing advance warning wherever it is needed, indoors and out. Although the system aids in detecting what is hidden beneath clothing, it is not an x-ray. That means there is no invasion of privacy concern, since the technology does not depict any anatomical features.
