Information Technology Disaster Resource Center to Hold Disaster Planning Event in Joplin, MO

Fort Worth, TX, May 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of IT professionals who assist communities and small businesses with technology continuity and recovery, today announced it is hosting a “Technology Continuity 101” event in Joplin.

The free half-day educational event will be held at the Joplin Public Library, 300 South Main Street on Monday, May 21 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The material, presented by IT Disaster Recovery Specialists from the ITDRC, is tailored to help small businesses and non-profits assess their current use of technology; develop a strategy to safeguard their data, and understand options for business continuity and recovery in the event of disaster.

Joplin is one of 26 stops in a Spring Disaster Preparedness Road Show, and the event will be held on the eve of the 1 year anniversary of a deadly tornado that affected over 500 businesses the town.

“We’re proud to have been involved in the Joplin recovery operations this past year, and feel this event will be beneficial to the entire business community,” said Joe Hillis, Operations Director of the ITDRC. “Continuity Planning can be a complex process, but we can help by taking away some of the mystery,” he added.

The initiative is funded through a sponsorship grant from StorageCraft Technology Corporation, supporting partners, and private donors; and presented as a public service of the technology community. The tour kicked off in Shreveport, LA on April 23, with stops along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts; and in several high risk cities in the infamous “Tornado Alley”, ending in Houston, TX.

The free event is open to the public, but seating is limited to registered attendees. To register online, visit itdrc-jln.eventbrite.com or the ITDRC web site at www.itdrc.org/?page_id=404.
