Orbus Exhibit & Display Group Helps Clean the DuPage River
Bolingbrook, IL, May 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Orbus Exhibit & Display Group participated in the DuPage River Sweep on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Hidden Lakes Historic Trout Farm in Bolingbrook, Illinois in the effort to help the community clean the river and help restore it to its original state.
Orbus’ environmental goals reach beyond its own facilities to improve the environment on a local scale. Volunteers picked up garbage and debris in and along local sections of the DuPage River, helping clean and reduce pollutants in and near the river.
“Environmental responsibility is more than what we can do in our own buildings; it’s about what we can do to help the community as well,” said Jim Concannon, Quality Assurance Specialist at Orbus.
The River Sweep is an annual event that began in 1991. Since its inception over 190 tons of garbage has been removed by more than 6,800 volunteers. The amount of trash collected each year declines proving this event has a positive impact on the waterways of DuPage County.
Recognizing that the world’s natural resources are limited and fragile, The Orbus Exhibit & Display Group considers environmental protection to be consistent with its overall goals and values. Since 2010 Orbus has been certified with the ISO 14001:2004 Certification which is recognized as an organization’s high level commitment to environmental protection. In addition to ISO 14001:2004, Orbus’ Niles, Illinois facility is certified to the ISO 9001 standard for a quality management system. This same system is set to be implemented at Orbus’ headquarters in Bolingbrook, Illinois by the first quarter of 2013. The company’s Las Vegas, Nevada facility is working towards certification of both standards.
