Banks and Capital Management Firms Dissatisfied with Their Current Technology Platform for Governance, Risk, and Compliance

FSOkx survey reveals that firms would like to migrate to a single GRC platform but struggle to find an integrated GRC solution

Manalapan, NJ, June 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- FSO Knowledge Xchange, a global research and information hub, released the results of its latest survey and analysis: How Regulatory Reforms are Changing Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance in the Banking and Capital Markets Industry. This 18-pages report outlines the investments organizations are making in people, processes, and technology to address GRC challenges.

Among the findings:

Technology lags behind regulatory reality: Most respondents report that their current GRC technology platforms are inadequate and as a result many firms expect to invest significantly in reengineering.

Data management remains a key focus area with almost three-quarters of respondents saying that consistent data classification and appropriate granulation is critical to GRC effectiveness.

Banks and capital markets firms are investing in end-to-end process identification, mapping, and modeling as part of their GRC transformation strategy.

Of those capital markets firms seeking an integrated GRC solution, 42 percent plan to integrate a best-of-breed GRC tool from external sources and 29 percent plan to build an in-house system.

Of those banking firms seeking an integrated GRC solution, 50 percent plan to build an in-house system and only 17 percent intend to buy an integrated system from external sources.

“Although banks and capital markets firms express interest in integrated GRC platforms, most don’t believe that viable options are readily available,” noted Rekha Vatsa, FSOkx Co-founder and CEO. “Those vendors that can muster the sophisticated technology and business process expertise needed to bring flexible, customizable GRC solutions to the financial services marketplace will be well positioned for growth.”
