)-- Skagit Valley’s Best Produce announced today their participation in an upcoming episode of American Farmer for Discovery Channel and Rural TV.
Skagit Valley’s Best Produce is the sales arm of Smith and Morrison Farms, a potato-packing and distribution business located in northwest Washington. The Smiths and the Morrisons are some of the longest-standing crop farms in America, and their joint partnership delivers fresh produce under the “Skagit Valley’s Best” brand.
This particular episode will focus on how family farms in America have survived the test of time, and continue to provide produce to consumers worldwide despite the presence of industrialized agriculture.
“As local family farms, we fully participate in the daily work and management of our operations, from turning the soil to harvest to sales and distribution. We take great pride in our family heritage,” says Darrin Morrison, the younger of two brothers who own and operate Morrison Farms.
Brad Smith, from S&B Farms and a co-owner of Skagit Valley’s Best Produce adds, “We work hard to give our consumers the best produce possible. We look for new varieties, update our equipment and farming practices and try to be socially responsible in everything we do.”
“The Smith and Morrison family farms have a rich history, and it is that history that makes their partnership so special,” said Shirley White, producer for the American Farmer series. “Viewers will appreciate how despite competition from larger, industrial operations, Skagit Valley’s Best Produce is able to provide high-quality potatoes from a family farm.”
