Brits Back England Through Bravofly

Football flights reach fever pitch in Eastern Europe as excitement for the European Championships takes off with low cost airfares to Poland and the Ukraine.

Chiasso, Switzerland, June 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- If the England team manages to emulate the behaviour of its fans on the pitch this summer then the rest of Europe will be left in the shadows and the 3 Lions will reign victorious for the first time in 46 years. Although the pre-tournament injury jinx has hit again with Gary Cahill, Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry all flying home, supporters are flocking in the opposite direction.

The Bravofly Group has analysed the data based on bookings made by passengers travelling during the period of the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine and it appears that England has already defeated Russia, Germany, Spain, Italy and France. Of all the sites of the Bravofly Group passengers from the UK are the ones who are following their team the most, based on the percentage of the total bookings on each site flying to Euro 2012 destinations.

For much of the last trophyless half a century Roy Hodgson has been building his managerial experience, both domestically and internationally, and now has avoided the fate of being the first manager since 1966 World Cup winner Alf Ramsey to lose his opening match. Traditionally one of the best supported squads in the world, the barmy army of England are mainly heading to Kiev.

With 39% of bookings made on Bravofly.co.uk and Bravofly.com are heading to the Ukrainian capital, it appears that the Brits are not following in the footsteps of Team England, who based themselves in the Polish city of Krakow. Amongst the three group games, the most popular according to number of flights booked is England v Sweden on June 15th.

The rest of the UK (27%) are heading to Warsaw, one of the host cities of Euro 2012, where they will be able to enjoy the opening ceremony in just a couple of days time and also the games of Group A involving Poland, Greece, Czech Republic and Russia.

Despite the draw for the European Championships being made in December last year, fans have been leaving it to the last minute to make their bookings. With 78% having bought flights in the last 3 months, people are confident that cheap flights will still be available.

In fact, the majority of the English are going to these destinations as they can be reached by many of the low cost airlines. Due to the availability of cheap airfares many England fans are choosing Kiev at £157 per passenger per segment. This is almost £40 cheaper than flights to the other Group D games in Donetsk at £198. Cheap flights are also available to Wroclaw, Gdansk and Warsaw at an average of £46, £55 and £67 per passenger per segment respectively. This way, fans wishing to see Spain, Italy and the Republic of Ireland (amongst others) can all cheer their team on, on a budget.

These are based on bookings made on all the sites of the Bravofly Group by those travelling to the Ukraine and Poland between June 8, 2012 and July 1, 2012, for bookings made as of 6th June, 2012.
