U.S. Coast Guard Confirms "DE-OIL-IT" a Non-Hazardous Item for Storage Aboard Marine Vessels

Compliant with Federal Law 46 C.F.R. Part 147

Bay Head, NJ, June 24, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Tech-Lube Wholesale of Bay Head, NJ, a wholesale distributor of DE-OIL-IT water-based, non-toxic cleaner/degreaser was informed by the U.S. Coast Guard Hazardous Materials Division (CG-ENG-5) in Washington, DC that the DE-OIL-IT product has achieved compliance with federal law.

The Coast Guard stated DE-OIL-IT "Does not require Coast Guard certification for use in a ship's store or on board vessels because its characteristics do not represent a sufficient hazard to be considered a dangerous article under 46 C.F.R. Part 147."

DE-OIL-IT was specifically formulated as an environmentally safe product for cleaning and degreasing grease, fuel and oil spills and stains on land, pavement, water, clothing, engines and other surfaces, with simple water washdown. The runoff is harmless to plant life, wild life and aquatic life, and will continue to work for a long period in whatever environment the runoff might enter, including drains, sewers, lakes, rivers, streams, wetlands, beaches and soils.

DE-OIL-IT is available in 22-oz. spray bottles, 1-gallon jugs, 5-gallon pails, 55-gallon drums and 275-gallon caged totes as well as 12,000-gallon ISO intermodal tank containers. It is available in pre-diluted form as ready-to-use Boat Bilge Cleaner (also an excellent boat wash, red wine stain cleaner, exhaust stain cleaner), a Fuel and Oil Spill Eliminator (also for machinery degreasing), and a Driveway Stain Remover For industrial applications in marine, automotive, aviation, aerospace, transportation, agriculture, mining and manufacturing applications, the Industrial Strength Concentrate is available in packaging sizes from 1-gallon and up and is likewise dilutable with water.

Users are also reminded to always check with local regulations regarding any cleaner/degreaser, and that should emergency use be required for emergency mitigation of a fuel, gasoline or oil spill, such spills must be reported to local authorities, and the EPA OSC (On-Site Coordinator) should be made aware that DE-OIL-IT can be used in such emergencies until other assets arrive if it is in stock and readily at hand, in accordance with federal law which states:

"40 CFR 300.910 - The OSC [On-Scene Coordinator] may authorize the use of anydispersant, surface washing agent, surface collecting agent, other chemical agent, burning agent, bioremediation agent, or miscellaneous oil spill control agent, including products not listed on the NCP [National Plan] Product Schedule, without obtaining the concurrence of the EPA representative to the RRT [Regional Response Team]."

Very significantly, DE-OIL-IT minimizes or avoids potentially substantial costs of fines, clean-up, long-term remediation, shut-downs, legal fees and environmental restoration and mitigation, while reinforcing a stance of proactive environmental awareness and stewardship.

DE-OIL-IT is in the process of applying for inclusion in the EPA's NCP (National Contingency Plan) Approved Product List as a miscellaneous fuel and oil spill remediation process, as well as the EPA's DfE (Defense for the Environment) list. It was recently approved for use by the Kingdom of Bahrain Environmental Agency for fuel and oil spill remediation on land, water and roadways by their Special Forces, and is being tested with outstanding results in other regions for remediation of former oil drilling sites. Testing is also underway regarding land-based sites of fuel and oil contamination and shows significant promise. This use of DE-OIL-IT could effect immense savings by precluding the need of costly excavation of such sites, including common underground heating oil tank leaks on up to superfund sites.
