Wednesday, June 27 through Sunday, July 1, the National Storytelling Network will hold its 2012 National Storytelling Conference at the Cincinnati Marriott at RiverCenter in Covington, Kentucky.
The conference features storytellers from around the country delivering keynotes, presenting workshops, performing in showcases, hosting story swaps and more. This year’s theme, “A Conference to Remember!” honors past tellers and encourages us to reflect on the best of our past in order to better inform our future.
Special individual events include:
*Wednesday, June 27, 7:30-8:30 pm – Filament Theatre Ensemble, $10.
*Friday, June 29 7:30-9:30 pm – All Regions Story Slam, featuring the Cincinnati Crosley story with NY Times Best Selling Author, Rusty McClure. Audience members can put their name in the hat to tell a 5-minute story on the theme of ‘Remembering.” - $15.
*Saturday, June 30, 7:30-9:30 pm – ORACLE Award Ceremony and Reception, honoring 2012 award recipients in leadership & service, excellence, and lifetime achievement - $15.
*Sunday, July 1 2:00-4:00 pm –Special Celebration Concert, featuring performances from Charlotte Blake Alston, Carol Birch, Elizabeth Ellis, Bill Harley, Kevin Kling, Jim May, Bobby Norfolk, & Laura Simms- $15.
The Sunday concert is a great way to get a taste of the excitement and diversity of world-class storytelling. Expect an afternoon full of stories and laughter.
Performance Package tickets for $125 allow admission to the Friday and Sunday concerts as well as story showcases, story swaps, and fringe performances throughout the weekend. Full conference registrations are also still available at the door.
Special Interest Groups present pre-conferences on Wednesday and Thursday for those using storytelling in education, healing, business, or producers of events. Master classes offer 5 hours with a specialist for $100.
