MEGT Creates New Jobs Around Australia

Ringwood, Australia, July 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- A not for profit organisation has good news for job seekers and businesses across Australia. The Australian government has recently contracted MEGT to expand its offices in every state of Australia and in the Australian Capital Territory in order to help employers with their apprentices and trainees. Along with the new offices comes new jobs for local staff.

Jan Griffin, General Manager of MEGT Australian Apprenticeships Centre says it is part of her strategy to ensure every region is staffed by people who have a detailed knowledge of the local industry conditions as well as all the benefits (both state and federal) that local businesses can tap into when they employ their apprentices or trainees.

This includes government incentives for increasing the skills of their current staff.

“We provide a free service,” explains Ms Griffin. “The Australian government has contracted us to assess the eligibility of businesses for government funding, to promote apprenticeships and traineeships in the region and to make it as easy as possible for businesses to employ and train staff through an apprenticeship or traineeship arrangement. The local staff we employ have two roles. There are the administration staff that process the paperwork and handle the systems side of things and there are the Consultants who visit local businesses and their apprentices and trainees at their worksite.

“They are jobs that provide an absolutely free service to help facilitate the payment of government money that result in even more jobs for locals. That makes for a pretty satisfying role.

“It’s also an important part of my strategy to ensure the new office is supported by a considerable infrastructure. This ensures the information they receive about government benefits and local training providers is always up to date and ensures benefits are processed promptly.

“The training support the new staff have is important in terms of the quality of service they provide the region. We act as consultants on a wide range of industry career development options and businesses use us for bipartisan workforce planning advice. It’s important that we get it right as it will affect the futures not only of the businesses we consult to, but also of their staff.”

MEGT’s Australian Apprenticeships Centre operates throughout New South Wales, the ACT, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and in Perth and south west Western Australia and is employing an additional 180 staff for its 40 new offices, taking the number of offices across Australia to 104.
