Lille Healthcare Supporting 2012 Vinnies CEO Sleep Out
Sunnybank, Australia, July 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- It is without doubt that all organisations have a responsibility to ensure quality of life not only for their workforce, but for the local community and society at large. Lille Healthcare, a division of Ontex Australia, continues to demonstrate their commitment to corporate social responsibility by working closely with charities, and donating product and educational services to a number of organisations in need.
In continuing this commitment, Managing Director, Charles Cornish, and Business Unit Manager, Bruce Salmon have registered for the 2012 Vinnies CEO Sleepout, being held on the 21st of June in capital cities around Australia.
On any given night in Australia, there are more than 100,000 people who find themselves without a home. Crisis accommodation is very limited and as maximum capacity is reached people have to be turned away – data shows that these are two out of every three people (Street Smart Australia, 2012). A large amount of specialist homeless and housing services have been implemented by Vinnies, yet there remain several areas without such support.
Managing Director, Charles Cornish asserts that "there are many underlying issues that drive someone to homelessness, from alcohol and drug addiction to mental health issues to domestic violence - however very rarely is homelessness by choice."
Each year St Vincents de Paul hold the sleepout event for CEOs and senior business and community leaders to rise to the challenge, and experience what it is like to be homeless for a night in winter. It is anticipated that the event will raise awareness for homelessness in Australia while also raising significant funds towards assisting less fortunate Australians. Registered CEOs can be sponsored and all donations raised goes towards Vinnies homeless services around the county.
