Free Wheelchair Mission named Regional Finalist for 2012 CLASSY Award: Charity of the Year

Free Wheelchair Mission has been named a regional finalist for the 2012 CLASSY Charity of the Year.

Irvine, CA, July 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Free Wheelchair Mission, a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides the gift of mobility to the impoverished disabled in developing nations, has been selected as a regional finalist by StayClassy, Inc. for the 2012 CLASSY Award given to the Charity of the Year. The CLASSIES are the largest philanthropic awards ceremony in the US. Regional finalists were selected from a pool of more than 2,400 nominees.

FWM Founder and President, Dr. Don Schoendorfer, is thrilled with Free Wheelchair Mission’s nomination for Charity of the Year. “It’s humbling for us to be selected with these other fine charities,” he said. “If only the 650,000 people living in developing countries who have received our gift of a wheelchair could vote! In the end, though, we have our prize already remembering the tears, smiles and hugs of our recipients—knowing the lives we have changed.”

Regional finalists will be judged by a panel of past CLASSY award-winners and also in part by a public vote, open until July 26, 2012.
