About James E. Looper, Jr.

James Looper attended law school at Mercer University, where he was elected to numerous Moot Court teams and served on the Board; served on Law Review; and was elected to the National Order of Barristers. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Looper attended graduate school in pharmacology and medical school. Upon graduating law school in 1996, Mr Looper began a general litigation practice in Dalton, Georgia. In 1999, Mr. Loper moved to Atlanta and joined Hall Booth Smith & Slover, PC where he began to focus his practice on medical issues. In 2006, Mr. Looper relocated to Hall Booth Smith & Slover’s Nashville office where he serves as the office’s managing partner.

James Looper’s practice is centered on medical related issues, complex litigation, alternative dispute resolution and health care. Mr. Looper has numerous jury trials in Georgia and Tennessee.

In addition to being an experienced litigation, Mr. Looper understands and appreciates alternative dispute resolution. As a Rule 31 certified mediator in Tennessee, Mr. Looper is available to help you resolve your case outside the court room.

Mr. Looper routinely speaks at a number of continuing education programs and is involved in several professional organizations. In addition, Mr. Looper is actively involved in the community serving on the board of the Wang foundation for Sight Relief and the Hospital Hospitality House. In
2011 and 2012, he served as the Chairman of the Board of the Hospital Hospitality House.

In addition to participating in several practice groups, Mr. Looper currently serves as the assistant chair of the firm’s medical malpractice practice group and the managing partner of the Nashville office. He has received numerous awards including being listed as one of the leaders in Tennessee health care by The Nashville Medical News. He has also been listed as a premier health care attorney. Mr. Looper is also peer review rated AV with Martin Hubbell.
