About Eli J. Richardson

Eli Richardson is a Member of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, focusing on compliance matters, conducting internal investigations, and defending clients under investigation by the Justice Department, Securities and Exchange Commission, Offices of Inspector General, and other enforcement agencies.

Prior to joining the firm, Eli served in several offices in the Justice Department during 12 years of government service. He held high-profile positions as a federal prosecutor and as a special agent with Federal Bureau of Investigation. In December 2009, he received the Director’s Award for superior performance by an Assistant U.S. Attorney. Eli also has overseas experience, including serving as DOJ’s Resident Legal Advisor in Belgrade, Serbia.

Eli began his legal career with six years in private practice. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt Law School and Duke University. He frequently speaks on topics involving white-collar enforcement and has published extensively in law reviews and legal practice publications.
