Dr. Karen Sherman Was Guest on Positively Empowered Radio

Dr. Karen Sherman spoke about how old "wired-in" patterns impact present day behaviors.

Plainview, NY, July 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- On the Positively Empowered Radio show, Dr. Karen Sherman, psychologist and author of "Mindfulness and The Art of Choice: Transform Your Life" spoke of how "wired-in" patterns from childhood impact adult behavior. Most people live on "auto-pilot" according to Dr. Sherman, repeating behaviors they learned as children even though these no longer are effective as adults. "However, they are reluctant to change since change is scary."

Additionally, many times people react to others or to situations really because of left over emotions that have never been attended to. When people are emotional, they aren't able to think clearly and therefore, aren't making choices.

Dr Sherman listed three "red flags" to help indicate if one's reaction is from the past:

1. The response to something is immediate.
2. The reaction is very intense.
3. Even after someone explains their intent, the person can't let go of their reaction.
