DeVoe Automotive Supports Local High School Graduates

Every year since 1970, DeVoe Automotive has had the opportunity to give scholarships to several deserving high school graduates who otherwise would not be able to afford a college education.

Naples, FL, August 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- DeVoe Automotive Group has provided scholarships for local high school students since 1970 and has assisted over 350 students in paying for college. This year, 10 graduating high school seniors were awarded $12,000 each to help finance their college education. In previous years, DeVoe had purchased Florida Prepaid Tuition scholarships for the students, but due to some changes in the Florida Prepaid College Plans, DeVoe has chosen to pay the amounts directly to the colleges each semester for every student. The students will be responsible to keep in contact with DeVoe each semester and provide the needed information in order for the payments to be processed. They are excited to tell how they are doing and how grateful they are to receive the scholarships and it is very rewarding to hear from them and find out how they are doing in progressing towards their dreams. Without this money, some of them would not be able to attend college at all. Scholarship recipients can major in anything they want in college, but to be considered for the scholarship, they must be drug free, crime free, and show financial need.

The DeVoe family’s goal is to reward students who have worked hard and wish to continue their education. Therefore, DeVoe is committed to providing these well-deserved scholarships to our next generation of leaders. This community has helped to build the DeVoe business and this is one of the many ways they give back to the community.

The DeVoe Scholarship committee interviews the students and evaluates test scores, GPA, goals, and motivation to determine who to award the scholarships to each year. It is not necessary for the students to be number one or two in their class, but they must be in good standing academically. The students are presented a certificate from a DeVoe representative at the student’s high school awards ceremony.

The scholarship fund was started in 1970 by Richard DeVoe, who opened the first DeVoe Automotive dealership in Florida in 1968 and has been serving Southwest Florida for over 44 years.

DeVoe Automotive Group has two locations in Naples: DeVoe Cadillac; on U.S. 41 North and DeVoe Buick GMC, Subaru on Solana Road.
