RGB Lounge: Help the Community Boldly Battle Body Odor

RGB Lounge will be collecting new hygiene product donations August 16 - Sept. 31 in Chicago. Donations from different neighbors will be put into packets and distributed to local homeless shelters.

Chicago, IL, August 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- RGB Lounge in collaboration with Recycle It and My Salon Echo will be collecting new hygiene product donations August 16 - Sept. 31 for shelters in Chicago. Currently, RGB Lounge has been collaborating with three different shelters, A Safe Haven, Deborah’s Place and Lincoln Park Community Shelter to organize this hygiene product collection for impoverished communities. Donations from different Chicago neighbors will be put into packets and distributed to local homeless shelters.

RGB Lounge is a creative collaborative community located in Wicker Park on Milwaukee Avenue. It provides artists, designers and creatives of every level with high quality, low cost production solutions for almost any type of project.

Nic Sementa, RGB’s principle owner, firmly believes, “It’s very important to give back because the community is made up of all us, it doesn’t just reflect us but everyone around us.”

RGB Lounge will be collecting hygiene items for homeless shelters including Deborah’s Place, one of Chicago’s largest supportive housing organization for women. They believe everyone has a right to clean, safe and affordable housing.

“Deborah’s Place provides comprehensive case management that is designed to provide each woman with the opportunity to determine her own path to healing, growth and change,” said Angelia Doudy, the case management housing administrator for Deborah’s Place. “Due to the funding cuts of the state we depend on the donations from the community to provide in-kind donations. It is really important for the surrounding community to donate hygiene products because we provide assistance to tenants without income.”

There will be four drop-off locations in Wicker Park, Edgewater, Chinatown and Rogers Park for people to put their donations into bins. Donated hygiene products will be collected twice over the course of time the bins are present.

They are looking for donations of essentials such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, and combs, preferably travel-sized.

“Making an effort to give back in any way is important for communities to thrive,” Sementa said.
