3R Technology Achieves R2 Certification

Seattle, WA, August 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- 3R Technology, an IT asset disposition and electronics recycling company headquartered in Seattle, has successfully achieved Responsible Recycling (R2) certification. This certification standard is supported by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI), the U.S. EPA, major computer OEMs, and U.S. state and local governments. 3R Technology was certified by Orion Registrar, Inc., an accredited third party auditing registrar.

Currently, 3R Technology, is the only IT asset disposition company in the State of Washington to attain this level of certification.

“This is a huge step for 3R,” said Glen Gaidos, 3R Technology’s founder and CEO. “We are very excited to be R2 certified. It demonstrates to our customers, partners, and friends in the industry that we are committed to being an ethical and ecologically sound member of the recycling community. In addition, our auditor reported that we were the first company he's ever audited that had zero non-conformances to report.”

The R2 standard sets a high bar for electronics recyclers with stringent requirements in the areas of worker health and safety, security, and environmental practices. The standard also requires e-cyclers to assure that potentially hazardous materials are managed safely and responsibly by downstream vendors through to final disposition. Covering specific practices for the collection, disassembling, and processing of used electronics equipment, R2 is one of the industry’s highest standards aimed at recognizing responsible recyclers.
