New York, NY, August 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council (The Council) will hold its 17th Annual Networking on the Green for Scholarships on August 20 at the elegant Forsgate Country Club, located in central New Jersey’s scenic Monroe Township community.

Networking on the Green is a day of business networking and activities ranging from a golf competition to dance lessons. There’s a non-golfers golf clinic, tennis clinic, in-house game competitions, an awards luncheon and grand prize auctions. One unique auction prize is a golf package for three (3) for a foursome with Eliseo Rojas, vice president and chief procurement officer at Interpublic Group of Companies, a Fortune 500 company.

“The Council is excited that Eliseo Rojas, a Fortune 500 CPO, is offering this special prize,” said Lynda Ireland, president & CEO, The Council. “This business scholarship fundraiser at the Forsgate Country Club gives minority business owners and corporate supplier diversity executives the opportunity to network and build relationships in a fun and informal setting. People do business with people they know.”

“One of The Council’s major missions is business education for MBEs. That’s why 50 percent of the net proceeds of the Networking on the Green event are utilized toward sponsorship of qualified and eligible Council-certified MBEs to attend the National Minority Supplier Development Council’s highly acclaimed Advanced Management Education Program at the prestigious Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Also, scholarships will be provided for our MBEs to participate in the Discover U Program,” said Ireland.

The chair for Networking on the Green is Duane Elledge, executive vice president and chief retention officer, Wyndham Hotel Group.

Networking on the Green’s gold sponsors are BNY Mellon, Consolidated Edison Company of New York, PepsiCo, Prudential and United Building Maintenance /Corporation.
