Officials from U.S. Embassy in Gambia to Attend Upcoming Oil & Gas Summit Africa

Chicago, IL, August 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- CDM Media announced today that officials from the U.S. Embassy in Banjul, Gambia, Ambassador Edward M. Alford and Deputy Chief of Mission Richard Yoneoka, will attend the Oil & Gas Summit Africa, Aug. 26-28, 2012, in Serrekunda, Gambia.

Edward M. Alford, a career Foreign Service officer with the rank of minister counselor, was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as the ambassador to Gambia in March 2012. He was previously executive assistant to the under secretary of state for management, and has served in various overseas roles for the Foreign Service, including consular officer in Manama, Bahrain, and Nairobi, Kenya; and management officer in Leningrad, Russia; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and Windhoek, Namibia. Ambassador Alford also served as a general services officer at the embassies in Rome, Italy, and Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Ambassador Alford’s previous assignments in Washington include executive director of the Bureaus of Near East Asia and South Central Asian Affairs, senior advisor to the under secretary for management, and post management officer for East Africa. He joined the Foreign Service in 1978.

Richard Yoneoka joined the U.S. Embassy in Gambia as deputy chief of mission in 2012. He previously served as a Foreign Service officer in the U.S. State Department, and as a congressional aide in Congress.
