Thieme Launches New Specialist Journal: Journal of Wrist Surgery

New York, NY, September 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Thieme is proud to announce the publication of the first issue of the "Journal of Wrist Surgery" (JWS). This new journal comes to Thieme through the vision and drive of its Editor-in-Chief, Dr. David Slutsky. JWS brings together all aspects of wrist surgery and small bone surgery of the hand, and will serve hand surgeons, orthopedic trauma surgeons, and plastic and reconstructive surgeons as a key reference.

JWS publishes both primary and peer-review articles, and places center stage a range of issues relating to the investigation and treatment of disorders and injuries of the wrist. It also offers the nouvelle concept of peer-reviewed surgical videos, which will all be cited in Index Medicus. The journal covers all details on emerging surgical techniques and new technologies with its special focus sections, periodic perspective essays, case reports and letters to the editor. All these various elements reflect the cutting-edge nature of JWS, which distills the ever-increasing knowledge surrounding the pathologies of the wrist joint - ensuring readers are always at the forefront of this exciting medical arena.

“The advent of wrist arthroscopy combined with eloquent kinematic and biomechanical research means that we now have a better understanding of the complexities of wrist pathologies and the treatment that is required; here complex and reconstructive surgery comes into its own. Journal of Wrist Surgery is solely dedicated to the wrist joint, and therefore a genuine mouthpiece for practitioners in wrist surgery, worldwide.” -Dr. David Slutsky (California, USA), Founding Editor of JWS.

Acknowledging further the dedication of his editorial board, Dr Slutsky elaborates, “I was honored when Dr Christophe Mathoulin approached me to be editor-in-chief of JWS, and have taken great pleasure is establishing this new publication. I am delighted that the backbone of JWS constitutes key people of remarkable expertise, in-depth knowledge and experience in the field of wrist surgery, which includes JWS’s six Deputy Editors and a panel of more than 40 international Associate Editors. Our goal as JWS’s editors will be to help authors clarify and fine-tune their messages and to recognize the elements of value that each article has to offer. JWS is a journal that moves with the times, presenting the state-of-the-art care of the wrist joint.”

JWS is available in print and online. Articles published ahead of print are available via the eFirst service on the Thieme E-Journals platform. All members of the European Wrist Arthroscopy Society will receive the journal for free in 2012 thanks to the support of Small Bone Innovations, Inc. and NEWCLIP Technics. From 2013, the journal will increase in frequency to 4 issues per year.
