Zombie Escape at Panic Point 5K Mud Run to Attract 1,850 Participants

Proceeds from Race to Benefit the Miracle League of Franklin County

Youngsville, NC, September 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Brian Garff and Geoff Huguely, creators of the Haunted Forest at Panic Point (http://www.raleighhauntedhouse.com), have announced that Atlantic Creative will present the Zombie Escape at Panic Point 5k Mud Run at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 2739 Cedar Creek Road in Youngsville, N.C. The 5k race, which pits runners against treacherous zombies through a 17-obstacle course, will benefit The Miracle League of Franklin County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing children with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball on adapted facilities.

During the 5k, zombies will “infect” participants by stealing one of three flags attached to a runner’s belt. In order to receive an official race time, runners must be in possession of at least one flag at the finish line. All participants, including zombies, will receive a race medal, t-shirt and one free beer, provided they are at least 21 years of age. Racers and zombies can sign up for the 5k on Friday, Sept. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Omega Sports at 4120 Main at North Hills Street in Raleigh, as well as on race day at the event’s registration table. Cost for racers is $100 for the noon wave of the event, and cost for zombies is $20 for the 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. event shift.

Food and drinks will be provided by The Fire Pit Restaurant and A Perfect Bite Mobile Cuisine, with music provided by DJ TAD. About Haunted Forest at Panic Point:
The Haunted Forest at Panic Point (http://www.raleighhauntedhouse.com) is the best haunted attraction in the greater Raleigh, N.C. area. Co-creators Brian Garff and Geoff Huguely invite visitors to step into the dark and walk a half mile on their trail with ten gory scenes and dozens of haunters. The trail was built on the site of the Old Panic Point Prison, and it was seriously nasty in 2011. Garff and Huguely step up the scare in 2012 with a re-built prison, torture chamber, and….well, they will let you see for yourself. Now that the zombie apocalypse has hit, the forest is filled with zombie prisoners, flesh melted hillbillies, mad scientists, and various forms of the un-dead. Scare Rating: 4 Skulls out of 5.
