Sun Toyota Employees Raise Money to Donate Van to Hope Children’s Home

Hope Children’s Home, a harbor for unwanted and abused children in Tampa, received a new van from local dealership Sun Toyota.

Tampa, FL, September 13, 2012 --( For children, getting away from an undesirable living situation is not as easy as jumping into a car. Along with local Toyota dealer Sun Toyota, Hope Children’s Home has been helping abused and unwanted children for over 40 years. Sun Toyota continued their support of the charity’s Tampa location by donating a new van that their employees raised money to purchase.

Hope Children’s Home has been providing a safe haven for children in need since 1968. Their facilities, located on 45 acres of land in Tampa, operate without any governmental aid. The assistance they provide to at-risk children is entirely dependent upon donations. Representatives from Hope Children’s Home estimate that their programs have helped almost 5,000 kids in the last 40 years.

Employees of Sun Toyota in New Port Richey have long viewed Hope Children’s Home as a cause championed by the dealership. In 2009, Sun Toyota donated a 2008 Toyota Prius Hybrid and generated over $80,000 to support the efforts of Hope Children’s Home.

Hope Children’s Home has received many awards for their work, including five consecutive top ratings from non-profit watchdog Charity Navigator. That distinction places their organization among the top 6% of non-profits in the country.
